Recent surveys have shown that close to 90% of travelers are wiling to pay an extra fee when traveling to compensate for the carbon dioxide emissions caused by their trip. Unfortunately, the number of passengers who actually do this is quite low. Therefore, we would like to help by increasing the accessibility to climate neutralizing measures for those who visit our region.
Fresh water, clean air, and unspoiled nature are Småland’s most important assets. In recent years, one of Småland’s largest cities, Växjö, has been recognized with numerous prestigious international environmental awards. BBC, NBC, and others have called Växjö nothing less than “Europe’s Greenest City” due to Växjö’s far-reaching climate goals as well as the city’s successful, long-term climate work. Those who wish to be a part of this successful work can now help compensate for the carbon dioxide emissions caused by their journey to Småland as well as for those emissions caused by traveling throughout the region.
For these efforts, Gotosmaland has chosen to team up with Tricorona Climate Partner, a large international player in the sector for the reduction of carbon dioxide. They have a great deal of experience creating carbon dioxide neutralizing projects throughout the globe and allow all of their projects and processes to be reviewed by an independent third-party. DNV (Det Norske Veritas) inspects all models and designs to ensure that they are scientifically based and that they are applied in the appropriate way.
The available projects are certified under the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism and, furthermore, they meet the requirements of the Gold Standard, a voluntary standard developed by, among others, WWF International and Greenpeace International. Tricorona takes into account all greenhouse gases and their projects are subject to much higher standards than those of other organizations.
With just a few simple clicks, you can help climate neutralize your trip.
